Disturbed was my old friend
When he joined me for a pint of ale By a stranger
He met on the road out of town
This encounter
Turned his blood cold and his skin pale It was no traveller
For it had two horns, hooves and a tail
And when the creature
Looked upon my friend with a fiery stare He lost all control
And he took a tumble from his mare
As he lay there
With his blood and dirt all in his eyes
He screamed
“The devil has come for me to take my life!”
A crowd had gathered
To hear how my friend had been cursed They gave him whiskey
But alas it did not calm his nerves
Out the window
Was a sight that filled his eyes with fear Then in a whisper
My friend said to me, "He's here"
I followed his gaze
And I thought I saw a silhouette
Of a beast with bright eyes
And it had two horns upon its head
It was no devil
I saw how my friend had been fooled When he met a chimney sweep Being followed home by his mule
